WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH OUR EMPTY SPACES?
In order not to lose the several Esselunga buildings located in the city of Milan, the company looked for new purposes to re-utilize the spaces, reaching in two different alternatives: knowledge hubs and storage.
There are two different approaches in what we call the 'knowledge hubs': the urban-factories and the labs.
The labs will involve showrooms, farm and food; while the urban-factories varies from bakery and roastery to brewery and cheesery (with the potential of expanding to other small productions in the future).
In addition to the previous warehouses located outside the city of Milan, each area of it will have one whole Esselunga building dedicated exclusively to food storage.
Both the automatic trucks and the grocery trucks will drive there to replace food whenever necessary.
